Polyester raided again
I stole this from Robin Bougie :
POLYESTER BOOKS TO CLOSE DOWN?
On the 16th November 2005, Polyester Books of 330 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC was raided and searched by several police officers with a search warrant. Several hundred videos and dvds - with an X-rating or deemed un-rated - were confiscated. While legal in Canberra and the Territories, X-rated material is considered illegal in Victoria. And while there’s potentially no problems ordering this material from international corporations like Amazon on the internet, we say - ‘Keep Your Aussie Porn Dollar in Australia’. We urge the powers that be to amend the legislation, permitting the legal buying and selling of X-rated content in Victoria and Australia-wide (not just in Canberra!)
Is Club X next? Is Polyester Books the first in a statewide crackdown on adult entertainment and the selling of x-rated material? Very soon - NO PORN IN VICTORIA! Is this what you want?
We are planning a campaign in response to this outrage that harks back to the dark ages of draconian Australian censorship.
Please support the concept of personal freedom and help us survive this trauma by donating to our legal fund and signing our petition online: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/polyester
in-store or at upcoming events.
Support Polyester - buy a Polyester T-Shirt online at www.polyester.com.au or come down to the store. We need your help.

Everyone that shops at Polyester and/or uses it to sell their stuff knows that it NEEDS to stick around. It's not like we have a great abundance of zine sellers.
I'll be heading there next week, so if you have something for sale there and I somehow don't know about it then please let me know.

Comic for Wednesday.
Mario Kart DS tomorrow !
yet all I can think about is Animal Crossing.
December 8th ! Oh man, Animal Crossing.
It is one of those things where if you were addicted to the Gamecube one you should be as excited as me, but if you weren't, well you are missing out.
Remember all the Animal Crossing comics I did that year ? Boy oh boy !

For Scott
Monday.
Reader Scott Davis said he wanted to appear in a comic of mine so there he is. Sorry it's inked like shit. Also, i've only ever seen that one photo of you.
This week, more Untitled Trouble Story.
And I am getting an important international visitor this week, so expect a few comics about that as well.
P.S. I was leaving a comment on a blog this morning and the word verification thing wanted me to type "IJIZZ". Laughs were had.

WARNING
Do not buy the Grape Bender Paddle Pop.
It tastes just fine but the texture of it is FUCKED UP. It is like eating a person's tongue. Or like wet grape-flavoured flesh.
Friday was the closing of the show. You can read Anthony's account of it HERE. I don't have alot to add except it was cool meeting him and Heather and finding out they're actual people.
I have ALOT of catching up to do in regards to emails. Please be patient.

Second part of that comic.
I have a new idea for a printed book.
I give myself the deadline of...late Jan/early Feb.
Also I should mention Anthony Woodward and Pete Warden's
exhibition is having it's closing this Friday night at the HUB. Copied and pasted : There'll be food and drinks and you can take some artwork with you when you leave. I've seen the show and it's pretty awesome so make it down.
Flyer Here.

I had a rad weekend in Melbourne.
It involved Nintendogs day at ACMI and seeing Made Austria rock out an abandoned milkbar.
More details later with photos.
I did buy a few things :
True Porn #2
Autobiographical sex comic anthology. I never saw the first one. There's some great stuff in here, some of which made me feel like a prude.
Nana shower by Mandy Ord
I'd been looking for this for a while and Sticky got a new batch of all her stuff. Not as funny as the other books, but it's not meant to be.
One Hundred Dollars and a T-shirt DVD
All about the Portland zine scene. Interesting and a little inspirational, maybe would have been more so to someone who hasn't made books before. It did make me realise how lucky I am in regards to photocopier access. Oh and it is full of girls in glasses.

DISCO full of problems
This was meant to have text but I did not have any disco-y fonts and also I forgot to resize it so when I uploaded it photobucket made it tiny.
I'd say I'm sorry but I really don't care.

The Guide to Gravedigging Halloween Special Page 6
For all your zombie comic needs.
The reason I keep putting them on the livejournal is because they are too wide for this here page.
I am thinking eventually all my comics may be there and this will be for non-comic stuff.
We shall see.

I am back on the nets
I would just like to show you three things with me in them that have appeared in the last week :
Jessica drew this to tempt me to Perth. Have a look back through her comics too, they are ultra-super-cute.
SonicTailC is spreading the word of Milkshake Parties.
I didn't think Tom McHenry's Proust comics could get better but then he put ME in it !
I really did that too, but only because I was asked to.
Hopefully I will be putting a comic here tomorrow.

Getting ahead of myself.
I just put 5 pages of comics up. I call it The Guide to Gravedigging Halloween special which will not actually be finished before Halloween if ever.
By my count this should cover Wednesday through to next Tuesday (I am not counting the one panel page) I may still put two more pages up this week so I am even more ahead.
P.S. I am going to try and attempt to be away from my computer until I have cleaned and packed my crap so forgive me for not replying to things.

Click for my comic for Monday -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NESSA !!
I hope you're doing okay.
Thanks for everything ever !
P.S. I keep forgetting to tell you that I actually saw a baby wearing one of those care bear costumes !
To everyone else :
Tomorrow will be another one off and then I am going to spread my cheeks and dump at least a weeks worth of stuff at once so I can get my shit organizized.

I'm pretty much freaking out
So I guess I'm going to have to move in with my folks until I find a place. I got no problem with my parents but they live in Lara and that is crazy ! I'll be so bored that i'll either do more comics than ever before or i'll completely lose my mind.
It's pretty crazy that my other option is Perth. Pretty much every Australian cartoonist seems to be there. Can someone move to a place they've never been to ?
I know the idea is crazy but that's exactly what excites me about it. And I can always come back.

so...
Don't worry and don't panic - I'm still doing daily comics, I'm still in the Daily Grind but I won't be doing journal comics for a while.
I tried to start a comic giving my reasons but it was going for too long so it'll have to wait.
Sorry to anyone who'll miss them. I'm sure they'll be back one day.
and it's the final one too
My journal comic for the 15th of October was drunkenly drawn on a chalkboard at a pool hall.
photos by Glen
Can you click it ?
and to stop the crybabies saying I should be kicked out of the grind for that here is an extra comic.
It was going to be the start of a zombie war comic for halloween but I have a better idea.

For the love of Mike
Check out the Mike Stevens tribute round of Stripfight for my not too gay but just gay enough entry.
Why does little Mikey get a tribute round ? Because he has taken part in all 65 rounds of Stripfight !! Plus he does a colour comic every day for the Daily Grind !
That guy is craaaazy !

Flu-zy
While spending the day in bed some new comics arrived including You ain't no dancer.
I was impressed ! Props to the people I know that are in it and huge ups to Ed Brisson for putting this together.
If you didn't order it back when I told you to then go here and do it.
I ordered Conversations #2 but what I got is the first one with Craig Thompson, which I already have. Anyone want it ?
I'd feel like a dummy complaining about it to the guys I get my stuff from because they gave me the Vertigo First Taste thing totally for free.

relapse
Man, I was really hanging out for that night and to be sick for it really sucked. I still had fun though. I'm sick of seeing the same people at every show but jac's opening was the complete opposite.
Speaking of which, there is a huge thing on Saturday in the city.
Let me know if you want to know about the huge thing (free food and drink)

Any confirmation either way would be appreciated
Another old stripfight :
History repeating.
After this one I decided to stop doing comics that aren't instantly photocopyable from the originals.

Shit's gotta change soon part 2
I was thinking that most readers wouldn't have seen my old stripfight comics so i'll post a few now and then.
Criteria : Use the quote "There are two things in life I really enjoy."
I really wish Skull didn't say a swear. It's like his secret dirty shame.
P.S.
What does everyone think of Pepsi Samba ?
I am completely undecided and confused.
I behaved myself !

At an op shop
I took this photo for Grug because it reminded me of Hugo Henson (who is the BEST) but the more I look at it the less it looks like him.
Which reminds me - with all the love around for us it was only a matter of time before someone got jealous.
For beck
This one is dedicated to statcounter.com, the "came from" button in particular.
I should have probably told everyone this earlier but if you link to me I will know about it okay ?
Let's ART
Today I helped put up Base Line an exhibition by
Jac of enthuzed.net
The show is pretty fucking awesome as you can imagine by looking at the flyer here.
You should all go to the artist reception this Saturday 8th 5pm-8pm.
I promise you'll be impressed.
It's the first of three shows in a row where I get to call myself the curator (because I am the one that sent out the emails) and it'll be the first function dealy in a long time where I am not just there for the drinks.

"all the kids want something to do-ooh"
In that first panel there I am totally all Ray from Achewood.
The guy was at least drinking age but I sure called him "son".
Sorry Sara !
If it's not sent out by the end of this week then I am an awful person.
And could people not send me anything for a while ? Not just because I'm moving but also because my letterbox has been taken away AGAIN.

Random Poops
I secretly went and made badges.
P.S. It is one month until I need to get a day-glo orange vest and start selling The Big Issue.
crazy in the coconut
There were two more panels but it turns out they were wrong.
Why so many comics ?
I'm trying to get out of the habit of doing the absolute minimum every day.

If you are going to make comics about me, don't bother because
this one is pretty much unbeatable.

Bad Comic Day
What a terrible comic !
Here's another :

S to the P to the X
Oh I am not gonna go making links for all those names but you can find most of them at
The Daily Grind Page.
Man, I could write about that call for hours. HUGE thanks to Sara for keeping it a secret, it just wouldn't have been the same if the others were expecting it. It was so wonderful and beautiful to speak to so many of my friends and heroes for the first time.
It upsets me that I did not speak to Dalton, Tyler, Jason and Xander even though they were also there.
Xander took this photo of Phil, Sara and Tom and Phil is totally wearing two of my badges. This excites me because I feel like I am right there with them nestled up against Phil's bosom.
You know what else I love ?
You guys had so much fun with each other that you barely mention Jeffrey Brown and Harvey Pecker were there.

Kids say the darnedest things
I am having an old skool day.
This involved getting the best of Spiderbait CD/DVD.
I feel like I am a young boy watching RAGE in the 90's again.
Remember when it was also on Thursdays ?
Old skool, dude.
Rude words
The thought of the 12 year old boy writing that and thinking it was funny is what made me want to laugh.
Time wasting measure
I've got about twice as much daily visitors since the last time I did anything like this, so anyone have any questions ?
I will answer them here instead of saying I will draw a comic about them and then forgetting.

My throat is wrecked

LES COMIC DIGITALES
So the second year of the Non-Stop Sketchbook is WAY overdue to be printed.
The stuff was drawn so long ago I pretty much can't bear to look at it and I would feel weird bringing something like that out.
BUT I do like the idea putting about two or three years worth of journal stuff on DVD and maybe even a bunch of us recording a commentary.
Would anyone buy that ?
and Anthony Woodward of AW Comix brings I-pod comics to my attention.

Could someone inappropriately hug Jeffrey Brown for me ?
Also : I want to visit the giant pink bunny !

Hey, I am all for alternative lifestyles.
How you live is your business and all but it is not for me.
What I am getting at is this :
I would rather not be homeless, thank you very much.
Love,

P.S.
I am just not as hardcore as John Campbell.

The Man with the Golden Eyeball !
Imagine it !
Could someone please draw me an epic battle scene in which the Axe Gang are fighting the Baseball Furies ?
Nice one, Geeza
Happy School Holidays !
How are you going to spend them ? Will you go to the zoo ?
May I please come along ?
This was meant to be a normal update but it turns out I am so sick in the head with boogers that I forgot to scan and upload the picture I've been trying to link to.
I can describe it to you though :
Glen found a boombox at the Nash and a badly drawn Terry is asking him where he found it.
Glen replies, "Where didn't I find it ?"
Then I put forward a scenario in which I am a DJ and I play my songs through a boombox while on the dancefloor. Ryan is there and his head is drawn completely wrong. Also my hair is dumb as I attempted to recapture the days when strangers told me I reminded them of Jarvis Cocker due to my glasses, messy hair and all-round girliness, but I now remember those days were pre-beard and potbelly.
And the whole thing looks like it was inked with a sticks by an idiot.
This is what webcomics were before scanners.
You'll see the real thing tomorrow.
Sorry for wasting the internets.
I don't know how long i'll be sick for but i'll try to avoid more posts like this okay ?

I get jokes.
Although it was another night at the Nash it was also a taste of life in Melbourne because all the cool kids came down.
And Talk like a Pirate Day ?
Pfft !
How about "Talk like a zombie soldier pyrate who has a flamethrower instead of a hook and a monkey for a pet who is also a soldier day." ?

some help ?
You know ye olde books with covers where the title and maybe a picture is all nice and gold ?
Is there a cheap homemade way to do such things ?
I'm pretty sure there isn't but I am hoping a rich magician is reading this and will take care of it for me.
Also not completely unrelated the gravedigger has always been called Mortimer
but he totally needs a last name and perhaps a middle initial. No puns please.

Nature's Cleanser
Ever since people became sick of webcomics with monkey/ninja combos the same people have been wondering what the next thing will be to make comics about until people are sick of them.
Some think it's going to be platypus vikings but I think Ducks that work in an office are where it's at.
Presenting OFFICE DUCK !
written by me and drawn by Grug.
